A unit sphere tinted quad by quad so it reads as a ball rather than a flat disc, with a marked point at 35 degrees north and its meridian drawn down the face. Drag to orbit and the point rides over the top and round the back. The lat/lon mesh, the axes, the contact shadow and the pole, equator and latitude tags are each their own layer. Every line on the surface is cut into short segments, which is what lets each piece sort against the ball's own faces instead of the whole arc sinking behind them.
